Meramandali, 19 May, 2026- Reinforcing its commitment towards rural development and community welfare, Tata Steel Foundation has inaugurated a series of community infrastructure projects in Odapada block of Dhenkanal district. The projects were inaugurated by Rudra Narayan Pani, Honble Member of Parliament, Dhenkanal; in the presence of Manas Mahakud, Shibapur Sarpanch; Anita Nayak, Kusupanga Sarpanch; Subhransu Sekhar Panda, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel Meramandali, Debanjan Mukhanrjee, Head, Kalinganagar Impact Cluster, TSF; Anant paul, Lead Infrastructure, Tata Steel Foundation, Meramandali and local community members.
The initiatives inaugurated include a Community Centre at Kurunti village under Kusupanga Gram Panchayat, Cement Concrete (CC) Roads at Kurunti and Sibapur–Odapada villages, and High/Mini Mast Lighting Towers at Rakola and Sarpa villages under Sanjapada and Nuagaon Gram Panchayat.
The newly constructed Community Centre at Kurunti has been developed to serve as a common platform for community activities, government programmes, training sessions, awareness campaigns, and social functions. The centre is expected to benefit around 200 villagers and will support various development initiatives related to education, livelihood, health, and community engagement.
To improve rural connectivity and ease access to essential services, Tata Steel Foundation has also completed and inaugurated CC Roads at Kurunti and Sibapur–Odapada. The improved road infrastructure will facilitate safer transportation, better access to schools, healthcare facilities, and markets, and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of the area. Nearly 2,000 villagers are expected to benefit from each of these road projects.
Further enhancing public safety and security, High/Mini Mast Lighting Towers have been installed and inaugurated at Rakala and Sarapa villages to provide proper illumination at community gathering points and accident-prone junctions. The initiative aims to improve visibility and ensure safer movement of villagers during night hours while addressing local safety concerns. The lighting infrastructure has been handed over to the respective Gram Panchayats for maintenance and operation.
Through these initiatives, Tata Steel Foundation continues to work in close coordination with local communities and public representatives to strengthen rural infrastructure and improve the quality of life in its operational areas.
