TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, urges puja committees, shopkeepers, vendors and citizens to follow electrical safety norms and obtain temporary legal electricity connections during Dussehra to ensure safe and reliable power supply during the festivities.
With puja pandals, temporary shops and lighting installations expected to come up across Central Odisha, TPCODL has advised organisers to obtain temporary connections from the company’s Section, Sub-Division or Division offices. It has also cautioned against illegal hooking and unauthorised connections, which can pose risks of electric shock, short circuits, fires, transformer overloading and power disruptions.
Puja committees have been advised to engage licensed electricians and ensure proper wiring, adequate earthing and installation of 30 mA RCCBs for protection against electric shocks. Organisers have also been advised to use LED lights, avoid overloading electrical circuits and sockets, use standard-quality electrical equipment and keep fire extinguishers available at pandals.
TPCODL has urged organisers to keep decorations, banners and flags away from overhead power lines and electrical installations. Metallic rods should not be used for carrying flags near electrical infrastructure. Citizens have also been advised to maintain a safe distance from poles, transformers and overhead lines, particularly during processions and idol immersions.
The company has further advised that firecrackers should not be burst near transformers, substations or other electrical installations. Damaged or exposed wires should be replaced immediately and electrical installations at pandals should be checked regularly during the festive period.
TPCODL’s 24×7 customer care centre will be available at 1912 / 1800 2027 to assist consumers with supply-related issues and emergencies.
Gajanan S. Kale, CEO, TPCODL, said, “We are committed to ensuring safe and reliable power supply throughout the Dussehra festivities. We urge puja committees, shopkeepers and citizens to opt for legal electricity connections and strictly follow electrical safety guidelines. A little caution and collective responsibility can go a long way in preventing accidents and ensuring a safe and joyful celebration for everyone.”
TPCODL has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and reliable power supply throughout the festive season and urged citizens to celebrate responsibly by adhering to prescribed electrical safety guidelines.
